As a prospective or current student with accessibility needs, you may have some questions about your university experience, such as how to get around campus and where to request assistive technologies and accommodations.
At DU, we're committed to supporting equitable access by providing reasonable accommodations for your needs. We've made strides in — and continue to work toward — creating an accessible campus for all.
Colleges adhere to different rules and regulations surrounding disability-related accommodations or adjustments than K-12 schools, so you'll be expected to take a greater role in advocating for yourself and working with your Student Disability Services (SDS) Accommodations Specialist.

Temporary Accommodations
SDS provides temporary accommodations for longer-lasting injuries or illnesses, including but not limited to broken bones, concussions, and ongoing illnesses lasting multiple weeks.
Assistive Technology
Students at the University of Denver have access to the LAARK Assistive Technology (AT) Lab where they can:
- Explore software and receive basic training Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. (by appointment only)
- Use the lab during testing if they need a specific accommodation

- Dragon Naturally Speaking
- WindowEyes and VoiceOver
- Livescribe Pulse Pens
- Juliet Pro Braille Embosser
We do not provide hardware or software for personal use. If you need an assistive technology on a personal computer, you have several options for download or purchase.

Emotional Support Animals
We recognize that service and emotional support animals provide various health and wellness benefits. Unlike service animals, however, emotional support animals are a wider range of species, assist in the treatment process of an individual and are generally limited to the individual's assigned living quarters.
